| 湖北省科学家昨日宣布：他们从湖北境内的果子狸身上，检测出SARS病毒。
据中国科学院武汉病毒研究所王汉中研究员介绍，他们与湖北省疾病预防控制中心实验动物专家唐利军副研究员等人联合组成果子狸专项研究组，在该省有关林业部门和疾病控制单位大力支持下，近日在鄂西地区四个不同的地点采集到果子狸的咽拭子、粪便和血液样品各三十四份。从咽拭子中提取的RNA(核糖核酸)，用四对SARS病毒特异性引物进行RT-PCR(逆转录-多聚酶链反应)扩增，扩增产物进行电泳，结果出现SARS病毒特异性带，经反复试验，阳性率均在百分之八十以上。由于此次采样的果子狸多是直接从野外捕获和在相对封闭的环境下进行人工驯养繁殖的，由此可推测果子狸很可能是SARS病毒的自然宿主。该项研究为SARS病毒的溯源提供了重要线索。
目前该省科学家正在对从果子狸分离到的核酸进行基因测序、病毒的分离以及果子狸的实验动物标准化工作。
