得主Karen Keskulla Uhlenbeck目前在普林斯顿大学任职，在规范理论领域贡献卓越。
最近，挪威科学与文学院公布 了2019 年阿贝尔奖（Abel Prize）得主为凯伦·凯斯库拉·乌伦贝克（Karen Keskulla Uhlenbeck），以表彰她在几何偏微分方程、规范理论和可积系统方面的开创性贡献，以及她的研究对分析、几何和数学物理的重大影响。而她也成为该奖项颁布以来的第一位女性获奖者。
阿贝尔奖是挪威设立的一项数学界大奖，每年颁发一次。2001年，为了纪念即将到来的挪威著名数学家尼尔斯·亨利克·阿贝尔二百周年诞辰，挪威政府宣布开始颁发此奖奖金。自2003年起，一个由挪威自然科学与文学院的五名数学家院士组成的委员会负责宣布获奖人，其奖金的数额大致同诺贝尔奖相近，而在挪威政府和专家组等人的努力下，此奖现已被誉为“数学界的诺贝尔奖”。
至今为止，该奖已有19位获奖者，他们包括证明费马大定理的 Andrew J. Wiles、挑战黎曼猜想的数学家Michael Atiyah爵士和电影《美丽心灵》的原型John F. Nash Jr.等多位著名数学家。
Karen是首位女性得主，她是普林斯顿大学高级研究访问学者，同时也是普林斯顿高等研究院（IAS）Park City Mathematics Institute (PCMI) 的创始人之一，兼普林斯顿高等研究院的客座副教授。目前，她领导的这一研究机构旨在培养年轻研究者，并提升他们对数学中令人兴奋的研究与挑战的理解。
据了解，受另一位阿贝尔奖得主、已故的迈克尔·阿提亚爵士的影响，Karen开始对规范理论感兴趣，而她最为人瞩目的工作成就就集中在这一领域：从四维分析了杨-米尔斯方程，为现代物理学中如标准模型、量子引力理论等众多想法奠定了一定的分析基础。
《Nature》报道称，Karen是通过一位友人知道自己获奖的消息，而她本人也表示出乎意料，尚未想好如何使用获得阿贝尔奖带来的70万美元奖金。
